this is definitely a directx9c issue
and Frey and snapstream and furthermore meedio need to find a fix
if M$ did this intentionally to destroy its competition thats weak
if not, using the nvidia post processor can be used to solve this issue
but it takes more power than without it and not I getting a few tears with the 5200
6800 doing pretty good though

I suppose you could try a directx uninstaller app (there are a few out there) and then install 9b and see if it fixes it.

I believe this link should work. It contians MUCH more than just the DX9b runtime, as it's the DX9b SDK version. But still since it comes straight off the M$ site, you can be fairly sure of it's safety. Hopefully someone else can post a trusted link to the DX9b redist only. That would save a lot of downloading for those that need to do this.

EDIT>A quick google turned up this MS link on a software suppport forum site. I can't verify that it will install that's needed, but it does go to to MS's site and the the file is called "dx90b_redist.exe" It would save a lot of download but I haven't tested it out as I'm still on SP1.<EDIT

I just installed directx9b!
no skipping after FF/RW anymore
Also no frame-dropping anymore

I am using the winDVD6 decoder

DXVA mpeg mode - B
deinterlacing - bob and weave

Picture looks great
Scrolling text is perfectly readable in both horizontal and vertical scrolling.

directx9c is crlearly a the problem!
I am still using SP2

Sorry - I don't get what you mean?!?

My picture looks pretty damn good now. What would I be fixing by getting Dscaler 5?

Fresh install of XP SP2, and VMR9 shows NO video.

Default and Overlay work fine.

Not sure what I'm missing not using VMR9, but seems kinda dumb that it doesn't work at all.

what video card are you running? what decoder are you using?
do you have 3d accleration enabled? have you updated your video card drivers? have you changed any of the setting for your video card otherthan basic items like resolution? are you running the latest java? are you running SageTV as a service? and can you post a copy of your properties file or properties files when running a service

one thing probably deleting your properties file(s) (and backup of properties file(s)) would make it work again, there is a good chance something is misconfigured if you had it working before

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Ahead MPEG decoder (installed with Nero 6 Ultra)
3d acceleration is enabled
Catalyst 4.11
Very latest java, installed on a fresh XP SP2
I have various AA & AF settings I use for games, but most of the time just leave it on default

I can post the properties files if you like, but this was a fresh OS install and fresh 2.1 install in service mode. VMR9 did not work from the very first time I ran Sage. Default and Overlay work fine, most of the time I just use default cause Overlay seems blurry or something.

that is your problem
buy a real decoder like nvidia decoders for 20 bucks

I keep trying to say do not use Nero or Ulead or hacked codecs like the Klite package in SageTV or for Nero and Ulead outside of their native player

they are not robust and often do not support advanced features like VMR9

adjust it in the game then not in the driver setting at least until you have it worked

you will be very happy if you get the nvidia codecs and install the intervideo codecs that come with the card to use for audio decoding or use the mpeg audio decoder cause nvidia is mainly for video

it is superior to anything else currently and cheap

I was waiting to see if Sonic was going to come out with a WMP10 compatible decoder, since I hear Sonic is the best.. plus, I was under the impression that the Nvidia decoders only worked with a handful of apps?

Sonic was the best several years ago (when TheaterTek selected them for the 1.x version). Right now nVidia 4.0 (or the 1.0 decoder pack) are generally considered "the best."

I was forced to move up to 9.0c yesterday to get 3D acceleration to reappear after upgrading to 2.2.1 and I downloaded it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Not sure if it is newer than the 9.0c that comes with SP2 but it seems to have been released/created in October. So I installed it and am experiencing no stutters with it in VMR9 etc. I have never had 9.0c on my current machine that I'm talking about so I have no idea if the stutters would have happened with SP2. Just figured you guys would like to give it a try. Especially kny

installing now and will see
it is the most annoying bug I have ever seen in SageTV
more than fighting with serial on my DirecTV box or losing recordings to the imported videos when trying to move them

I was not sure how to reproduce it ???

Try just starting and stopping the graph a few times.
