Pausing live tv with firefly remote

I just purchased the fire fly remote and have most of all the buttons programed. My question is i would like to assign buttons on the firefly to pause, FF, rewind Live TV but i have no idea how to do that. If anyone could help i would be grateful.

Unless your using Firefly with Girder, this is more of a question on the Snapstream Forums, cause the config for the Firefly is managed through their software. I believe their is an XML file in the Firefly directory, which determines what the different button presses do.

I have a Firefly, and if I recall correctly it does all of those things right out of the box. There's an xml file that has a configuration for Sage, it's in your "Profiles" directory under Application Data/somethingorother. Do other buttons work? (Volume control, channel change, menu arrows?)

You can also edit that xml file to your heart's content. My favorite configuration centers around changing the functionality of the Menu and Exit keys so that they call up the live TV guide and the Sage Recordings, respectively. I find I use those menus a lot.

all the other buttons work but when i'm watching tv on the couch and want to pause to talk to the wife none of them can pause live tv. If i put a dvd in then i can pause with the remote but only for a dvd.

Okay, your configuration profiles are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Snapstream\Firefly\Profiles. Go there, find the one for Sage (it'll say Sage 1.4, never mind). Copy that one somewhere else. Unzip and copy the xml file I'm attaching into the Profiles directory. Does my profile have the functionality you seek? If not ... well, talking to the wife is overrated (kidding). We'll take it from there.

I copied the file you sent and overrided the other file, restarted firefly and sagetv but still the same thing. Very frustrating that the very fuctionality of the pvr is to pause live tv and i can't do it from the remote, maybe the firefly isn't for me or i should have went with the Hauppauge remote. Thanks for all your input and if you have any other suggestions please let me know. Maybe its got something to do with the settings in sagetv, our XML files are the same and my firefly software is set to sagetv. Is your pause mapped on your keyboard as Cntrl S and Cntrl D?

Try this. See what your Firefly is sending out as Pause. For example CTRL S. If so, go into Sage TV Detailed Settings--Commands, and change the keystroke associated with Pause by changing it to that keystroke.

Don't give up on the Firefly just yet, it's a great remote. I'm not at my PC now and won't be for some time, so I can't give you as much help as I could if I were there. But here are the next things to check:

First, does pause work from the keyboard?

Second, make sure that the keystroke that your Firefly is sending out is received as Pause by Sage. Easiest way to do this: Open up the xml I sent you and look for the keystroke attached to the Pause key. Then open up Sage and map that keystroke to Pause.

I ended up fixing the problem by doing the following:

reinstalled firefly software
reinstalled SageTV 2.1
used the XML file on the sage tv disk and copied into the firefly\profiles directory and whamooo....it worked like a champ. If anyone else is having this problem i can post more specific instructions.

Where else can you get that XML file? I downloaded 2.1 from Frey and don't have a disk.
