Cable TV

I just got cable tv and I connected it to my comp and I can't seem to watch anything except one channel.

When I connect it directly to my tv it works fine, but when it is connected to my comp, it doesn't seem to work.

One channel works...the charter communications channel. Every other channel does not work.

I re-ran the setup wizard and put my settings as "cable" "use epg guide" "Charter Communications--Monterey Park"

Please help.

how do you have the cable setup?
Are you trying to go from the cable box to the tuner? If so, do you have a way for Sage to change the channel? or are you using the onboard tuner on you capture card?

What exactly happens when you try to change the channel? have you tried udating the 250 driver?

Is this for v2.1? Have you looked into the updated tuner dll for v2.1? See: Updated DLL for tuner related issues in SageTV v2.1

No, I haven't updated the dll. I'll give that a try.

The channels, change, i just get static on them. Like I don't have reception. However, I DO get reception on 1 channel. Channel 5

Tried the updated .dll...doesn't change anything...

In addition I think I have a different problem than those who posted on that thread. My tuner does change channels, but all I get is snow. Not a blank screen. Snow. Except on channel 5 (public service channel). It's very strange. And I know it's not the cable, because when i connect it directly to my tv I get reception.

BTW I am using basic cable connected directly to sage.

do you have anything recorded you want to save
if not uninstall SageTV, delete the frey tech folder
reboot and install the newest beta fresh

also make sure you are running the newest official hauppauge drivers

and when running the setup wizard make sure to choose the correct source

I am using the newest drivers and yes, I have lots of stuff that I want to save (about 200 gigs)...

Will doing a fresh install of Sage make me lose my data?

if you delete the wiz.bin you will lose all your video's data

if you delete the properties file, you will lose source info and favorites and such

where did the 200 GBs of recordings come from?
if you just got cable

are they imported files or captures from OTA analogue

Favorites are stored in the wiz.bin file.

The Favorite settings are definitely stored in wiz.bin. If you remove the properties file, and thus all your channels, there will be no favs to record. But, the favorites should still exist on the Favorites Manager menu -- isn't that the case? If that isn't so, aren't they listed again after a source is added?

Not at home right now...but isn't there a setting to tell the card to tune OTA or cable... Could it be that the charter channel is the only frequiency that correlates with an OTA channel in the lineup.

i got my recordings from OTA (an antenna)...(recorded movies, etc...I have 3 pvr's recording at pretty high quality so the space goes quickly...

Yes there is a setting for cable or OTA, but I tried the settings at OTA and at cable...neither worked...

same problem

hi ihave the same problem.

i tested the 2 pvr250 in different computers and i have found my problem. one of the cards (with the bigger silver ir) can't tune correctly. this card found only one channel in all other channels, so that i see in all channels the same tv program. i think it is an problem with this hardware or with the drivers from hauppauge. the error is also in wintv.

when i give this card to a friend...no problem. he has via and i have intel cips. my other card will not work with via and worked correct on my intel systems.

so i have 2 cards, the are working korrekt but not on my systems.

i send an email to hauppauge and this is the feedback: the newer pvr250 is a model for a higher voltage as on my older computers
