anyway to have it automatically patch mpeg file headers or ignore non-compliant resolution? my dvb recordings are 544x480 - i usually use dvdpatcher before burning to convert header to 720x480

Hmm, I wouldn't think just changing the header information would really do anything. I realize it would stop error messages from the other programs, but it's not going to change the resolution to a proper DVD compliant spec.

How well does this work for you?
Why 544x480 instead of 720x480 on the recording side?

DVD burner 1.1 not working

Forget this. I was trying to burn a file that I had deleted. DVD burner 1.1 is working OK.

I think my problem has something to do with VRD. I am running it as a trial and have only been using it for a week--should be good for 15 days i think--but when i switched to mpgtx--it worked!!! Guess it is time to buy VRD.
On another note. There was no title in the menu of the DVD. If i pressed play it worked but no menu screen with the title of the show. I am also still having the same issue when i go to the 'show dvd list' screen. It is blank and i have to use the mouse to click on the arrows to get the list to show up. Anyway, i'm at least glad i was able to burn a disk though.
thanks

Hi Carlo:

544x480 is the standard DVB resolution. changing the header tricks the dvd authoring programs and allows you to author a compliant dvd -in fact, many dvd player have no problem with 544x480 - they rescale it to 720x480 on playback. changing the header just allows you to trick the dvd authoring program to allow you to use those files.

Well, that would certainly explain it. Yes this is a known issue but it's out of my hands.

You could try the MPLEX method for demux.

If you have a link to the homepage for this util, I'll take a look at it.

Well, i can't get it working anymore. I switched to mgptx and it runs through the process, creates the titles and then just stops and goes back to sage without burning the dvd (and yes it is in burn mode). No errors pop up however. My log is below. I don't know how to attach files so i just copied it--sorry that it is long. If anyone can tell me how to attach files i will do so in the future. Thanks and sorry for being such a PITA.

After I put in all the debug checks I might have messed up the mpgtx demux stage. I haven't tested this in a while as most people are now using VDR since it's rock solid.

I'm running a couple tests now on this.

JUC, this worked just fine on my system. I did however go back and look at your log file again and noticed something strange.

Your AustinCityLimits file is broken up into multiple files and it appears a couple parts are missing. There is atleast 4 parts to the movie 0-3 and parts 1 & 2 are missing.

Putting this issue a side, if you still haven't tried another DVD the temp files will still be in c:\DVDS\working directory. Could you give me a list of what files are there?

I have:
menu2:106kb
title1-0: 522kb
title1-0: 7,116kb
title2-0:164,879kb
title2-0:2,061,655kb

I tried the Austincitylimits file in my F:\sagerecordings and it played back fine. it was 2.25gb. But, i did notice that there was another austincitylimits file in there that was 11mb in size.

That doesn't help much. What are the full file names including the extensions.

Is that a typo on the file list? Is the file actually called menu1.mpg and not menu.jpg?

Try doing this: Drop to DOS/command prompt. Navigate to the DVDBurner directory and run this command:

mplex.exe -f 8 -o "C:\DVDS\working\title1-0.vob" "C:\DVDS\working\title1-0.mpv" "C:\DVDS\working\title1-0.mpa"

What happens. If an error, what is the error?
