Try to eliminate compression from the equasion for a few disks and see how things go. I've got a feeling this is mucking things up.

"roughly" right?

because 2% to me means that a 4GB file becomes 2Gb.

so then i would say a 1.59 would make a 4gb file 4/1.59=2.515 roughly

is that correct?

then 1.59

Looks right abasu2003

It's a multiplier that will tell you what the finished size (of video) should be.

Hi all!

I'm sure this must have been mentioned before but can't seem to find it. Is there, or will there be a way to have the title of the show automatically added to the dvd?

DVDBurner won't play on external DVD player

Using F to burn my first DVD's. Works really well It plays on the computer just fine, however, I play it on my trusty JVC 7 disk DVD player and the DVD will not ready. Now, I have played all kinds of stuff burned from computer on this thing: DVD's, VCD's, SVCD's and MPEG3's but this is the first time, something hasn't played. Any ideas??? Does anyone have experience in this???

Oh BTW, I burned to DVD+RW media....

DVDBurner feature request or is it a problem?

I also noticed that the menu built by DVDBurner F just says "First movie" then "Second movie". It would be really nice if the episode title from Sage is used instead. Or do I have something setup wrong?

They are canned "show" names for now. Remember back in the beginning when people were asking for DVD Burning everyone said menus weren't even needed.

After the DVD Burner becomes stable I will probably add this.

Have you used this media in the drive before?
Does you JVC DVD player support DVDs without AC3 audio? Some don't even though they should.

What happens when you put the disk in? Is the disk itself not recognized?

I'm not sure if I've used DVD+RW in it before. The media never readies (just says Reading... then flips over to the next disk in the tray after awhile). Because of this I don't think its an AC3 audio thing (It would play, wouldn't it, but without audio???). I'll try burning to DVD-R and see what happens. I just didn't have that spool from work with me

I burned the movies to DVD+R and all was ok on my JVC. BTW, I also had to switch by receiver to DVD (analog) instead of Video2 (digital) for audio. Maybe that will help abasu2003.

my problem is that the DVD player itself doesn't load the video file. I have a DVD player/receiver all in one thing so it outputs the sound to the speakers. Maybe thats part of the problem.

Two different issues here:
1) Some players don't like read/write media at all and nothing we do will change that.
2) Some players won't handle a DVD with mpg audio. They should but some don't. Many players with digital outs for sound will handle mpg via digital only and not via analog. It has to do with the way they license dolby sound.

Besides these two issues. Is anyone having any other problems with the DVDBurner when using VDR?

Carlo

I hate to hijack this thread, if i am, but i finally had a chance to try the DVDBurner. Using version F, it seems to get all the way to the end and *not* burn the DVD.
For the record, I'm not using VideoReDo, but I'm not trying to cut commercials either. It's a home movie.

I start the burn process from Sage with a DVD+RW in the drive, which normally works with other software. It gets to the end, and appears to succeed, but burning never starts. Drive E is my DVD burner, and there remains an ISO file in the working directory... Ideas? Here's the log:

Dan, does DVDdecryptor start on its own if you run it manually?

What happens if you run DVDBurn.cmd in the external/dvdburner directory?

If that works, try running this from a dos prompt in that same directory:
DVDBurn.cmd "D:\temp\dvd.iso" e:

I assume e: is your DVD drive and D:\temp is your temp directory?

What happens?

Only outstanding issue in my book is the compression stuff which you know about already. I can always make a big-fat over-sized ISO if I select too much GB at once on a disk.

I am so happy with it in fact, I just ordered a new 8X USB 2.0 external DVD +/-R burner from ebay. - It even does CD-R all in one unit ($80 incl s/h). Time to replace my 1X DVD burner..

Sounds good Phil, I know if there are other issues, you would probably have found them.

Dan, do what Phil said above, as he's exactly dead on in his diagnositics.

BTW, if you look at the debug.txt file, it will show you exactly what it's doing at each step. You can then manually run through the entire process if needed to see where something stops. In your case, since you have the ISO created it's pretty much "cake" to figure out the problem as you only have one command not working correctly.

When looking at the debug.txt file when ever you see "CLI" that stands for "Command Line Interface" which means it's calling an outside program. The remaining part of the "CLI" line is the command line itself.

Carlo

Phil and Carlo,

Problem solved! Phil, your question about DVDdecrypter starting made me feel really silly. Yes, it starts, but dvdburn.cmd was looking for it on the C drive, while my OS and program files are on F. Change a "c" to an "f" and it worked like a charm.

I just watched my first Sage-burnt DVD in my DVD player... :-)

you guys rock... :-)
