Newbie with hardware setup question

Ok, I’m a newbie and have some basic questions about recording TV programs on my computer. I already have digital cable with a Motorola DCT2224 cable box as well as cable Internet through a cable modem. From what I’ve read I’ll need to go through my cable box to be able to record all the channels on by service. To be able to control my cable box channel selection (by way of a guide selection program) I’ll need to connect my computer to the cable box by serial cable or IR. This is where I’m not sure how to do the next step; I now need to connect my cable box to my computer, right?

My computer has a video card built into the motherboard with shared memory. There does not appear to be any input points on the back of the computer for video cables of any type. There inputs points for audio on the sound card.

Any help getting me started would be greatly appreciated, also any suggestion of web sites with info for a newbie would be great as well.

You need a TV tuner card to be able to use Sage as a PVR. See the system requirements:
