ver 2.2 / run as service?

I just installed ver 2.1.??? about a month ago. Don't have it running as a service since the PC is dedicated to PVR functions. Sage auto-starts at login. But I cant figure out how to make Windows just login. Every boot It stops at the users screen and I have to click the user name to login. Anyone know hoe to fix that?

Or would it be better to run Sage as a service then i dont need to login to start Sage up?

If I do the service bit should I not upgrade to 2.2 yet due to the service bug? I do not have any issues currently that the upgrade would address, at least I don't think I do.

In your run box type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2

Deselect the check box and enter the username and password you want it to automatically login as.

Very cool. Think that did the trick for the auto-login. Thanks.

Should I run as serivce? and if so, should I hold off on the upgrade to 2.2 for now?

I'm going to wait for the service bug to be fixed before running as a service. I've still upgraded to 2.2 though.

Since you were running before without the service, I'd say go for it. Then when the next version comes you can try the service mode.

The v2.2.7 service bug only interferes with using library import directories. If you have a lot of imported media, I would hold off on using service mode. If you don't use any imported media & just use SageTV recordings, then the service mode runs fine... or at least it does for me.

Other than that, v2.2 contains several bug fixes/improvements vs. v2.1. I suggest making a backup copy of your current Frey Technologies directory tree before installing an upgrade, just in case you have problems. (Yes, you can save just a couple files, but copying the entire tree while SageTV is not running catches everything.)
