How feasible is an OSD Overlay plugin?

Since Matrox DVDMax is such a cheap way to get incredible quality TV out, and the only annoyance is that you can't get the OSD to output through DVDMax...

If DVDMax just takes the current Overlay surface and displays it nicely on the TV, is it feasible to write a plugin to render the OSD to the overlay surface (at which point it would instantly get written to the TV?)? And isn't this very similar in principle to what the MVP and XCard plugins already do?

Maybe i'm being a bit simplistic and not understanding the issues, but if something existed to allow OSD on DVDMax it would become a dream setup. And it may even be very similar to someone's existing code.

Nick.

I would very very much like the same OSD plugin! If the OSD is rendered as an overlay subpicture, it would work not only on the G400 in DVDMAX mode, but also on nVidia 'overlay mirror mode' as well as on ATI cards in 'theater mode'.
