Integrating MPlayer with Sage

Has anyone produced a guide or list of tips on getting MPlayer set up and running correctly with Sage? Right now, my biggest worry is control and how it will integrate with my USB UIRT, but other issues such as the correct command line switches will surely raise their heads. I've scanned the docs for MPlayer, and so far found them a bit light in these areas.

Right now I have mplayer working as my external video player using Cayar's STV. I'm not exactly sure what else you want but if you can be more specific, I'd be happy to help

What does this MPlayer thing do when installed to SageTV?

abasu, what does your mplayer command line look like? What type of remote control are you using (Girder, Sage native, etc.)? Is there anything special you had to do to get it working right, or did it just "drop in"?

Basically, any info is good info. This time I'm trying to do the research before I start making changes and screw it up.

mplayer is just a media player that plays audio and video. its a very small program and uses command line but once you download the codecs, it works with everything.

My commandline for Cayar's external video cmd file looks like this:

"C:\mplayer\mplayer.exe" -fs %1

fs is just fullschreen.

Remote control wise, you can edit the mplayer command file pretty easily. as default, you can pretty much control most of mplayer using the 1-9 keys and directional keys. Hitting ok or enter stops playback. I personally use an RF remote that sends keystrokes to windows but you can easily program your IR remote to work with mplayer using Windows Commands. Some remote control threads can help you with it.
