Using SageTV to change channels on my STB

For over 6 months I've successfully used the Red-Eye connection from the PC Serial Port to the IR receiver on my NTL Pace 4000 STB to automatically change channels with SageTV.

I'm upgrading my STB to a Samsung (SMT 2100C), for increased download speed, and wondered if anybody had any luck controlling one via Sage. Unfortunately the RedEye will not work with the Samsung STB.

"Samsung boxes use a standard RC5 based remote control system which is compatible with repeaters and learning remotes."

Should the USB-UIRT work with "standard RC5"?
Are there other solutions you would recommend?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

the UIRT does RC5 and then some. There is an option for an additional blaster you can buy (blasts additional frequencies) but you should not need that.

USB-UIRT Not Changing all channels correctly

Thanks for the advice. I've just received my USB-UIRT today and it is 90% working.
I referred to the Sage Manual (Using USB-UIRT p199).
I went through the learning mode where it asked my to press the keys 0 to 9 etc.

The problem I have now is that channels with repeating numbers are not property understood by the STB (Samsung STB ST2100C from the NTL cable company)
eg
11 becomes 1
100 becomes 10 (should be UK TV History)
144 becomes 14 (should be E4)

I have tried speeding up the interval between characters but this has no effect.

If I use the normal remote and type the 3 digits 144 it works (I do not press any other key after entering the number (eg 144) or the 2 digits for channel 11.

Any comments welcomed
