Question SageTV client & local hard drive recordings

If recordings are on a local hard drive same PC as SageTV Client, will Client play the recordings directly from itself.. or will the SageTV server PC pull the recording across the network and then stream it back to the client?

I'm pretty sure they're alwasys streamed from the Sage server, regardless of where they are.

I would like to have a separate PC as my SageTV server. My current PC is almost workstation grade, but there are times I cannot do heavy processing things because they interfere with SageTV recording.

So my choices are:
1. Build a simple PC that will serve as the SageTV server, and then use my workstation as the client
2. Build a better PC that will be the SageTV server and player

I've been looking at building another PC, and it doesn't look like a full spec machine for recording AND playback will be that much more expensive than just a basic machine for recording only.

Any advice? My playback machine needs to be able to handle DivX playback.

Well when you can build an Athlon 64 3000+ box for about $500... So let me ask you this:

Where is your client going to be? Is noise a concern?

Here is (IMO) the ideal setup:

Server, running SageTV with all your capture cards, and all your storage.
+
Client, "minimal" by that I mean only sound, video, processor, and a laptop HDD.

With this you get a nice quiet client but maintain all the benefits of a "large" SageTV setup.

Next best to that is probably just a single box running SageTV.
