Removing Commercials from recorded programs?

Howdy,

Once Sage saves the MPG file to my hard drive, what's a good program to use to edit the file to remove the commercials so I can then burn it to DVD without them? I know I can remove them within DVD creation software but I want to simply modify the MPGs since I'm not yet ready to actually create a DVD.

I jsut want to take the MPG file, edit out the commercials, and then resave the new file as an MPG again, just without the commercials.

Thanks.
