video library with ripped DVDs

My friends machine contains 3 ripped DVDS. I setup his system and added those dvds to the media library. It was having problems showing some of the title .jpg files...this seems like a Sage Core bug. but he could see the DVD title text...select them and play them. He took the system over to his house and fired it up and found that instead of the blank title names I saw at my house, each title is now a folder. If he navigates into the folders then do not present a watch option in the left hand menu. Can find no way to watch them. My Sage works as it should with DVD playback, so I did a diff between his properties file and mine and did not find anything obvious between the two

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? I have tried removing and readding his MalDude2 stv, his media directories, tried to rescan media several times, but it always comes up with the unplayable folders.
thanks for any help.

Generic suggestions, the folder.jpg needs to be in the same folder as the video_ts.ifo. Is there a VIDEO_TS folder present, ie are the vobs and such in side a VIDEO_TS folder inside a [moviename] folder?

Beyond that, if you could post the directory/folder structure of one of the DVDs in question that might help.

And don't forget that the DVD folder structure (with thanks to stanger89 for his input) is in the v2.2 manual; see Appendix I on p. 202.
