Question Sanity Check

Greetings,

I think I have a handle on what follows, but I thought a quick post for verification would be helpful.

I am currently a SageTV user with the PVR-250 card used to record analog cable.

Due to some issues with my cable company, I am eager to switch to Satellite.

My question: can I continue to use my hardware with a satellite STB? I already have the USB-UIRT transmitter, and I believe the PVR-250 has an S-Video input. I use Zap2it for my listings. Any issues with getting the STB output recorded?

I understand the SageTV can control STB's. Does it need to know about the particular STB model? Or does it go though Girder?

Anything else I should consider?

Thanks!
Martin.

i see no problems. You would not need girder as the USB-UIRT can be programmed to receive/send commands for specific STB's.

also, if you are thinking about getting DirecTV---try to get the D10-100 receiver---it supports serial control through sage and the channel changes are supposedly much faster.
