New, weird codec problem
All of a sudden, codecs that used to work are failing. I can't play DVD's, since no audio codec works anymore. For TV, the nVidia audio codec doesn't work anymore, and I've had to select the Sage codec. Also, the regular nVidia video codec isn't playing nicely, and the postprocessor is the only nVidia video codec that doesn't give me a rendering error. Didn't install anything new, just started happening all of a sudden.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Commiseration? My setup: Shuttle MN31N nForce2 board GeForce 6600 AGP video card 71.89 video drivers nVidia DVD Decoder v1.00.67 |

You weren't by chance using the trial version of the Nvidia decoder, and it expired?

I had the same problem
I had the same thing happen with me. Never did figure out what "fixed" it. Mine had been using the nVidia decoders since I set the box up and out of the blue, no video. Switched to the Haupppauge InterVideo decoder and it would play fine. Back to nVidia, blank screen.
I finally tried installing the ATI DVD codec and rebooted and "poof" it started working again. I am able to use the nVidia codecs. Not sure why this would "fix" it but it is now working none the less. |
