Ha, MS is king of missed release dates!

Wasn't windows 95 supposed to be windows 93? And Windows 98 was supposed to be Windows 97!

Microsoft was smart in taking the year off their OS a la Windows ME & XP - Since they are incapable of hitting a release date anyway!

Let us return to those days of yesteryear....

In the parlance of past engineering departments:

Continuing progress is being made towards meeting the revised schedule.

My Guess -

Sage3 Beta - 1 day after I buy MCE
Sage3 Official - Wont really matter to me at that point

Extenders are turning into the biggest selling point for me. With a SageTV Plugin for something like the HP, Linksys, or Roku units I'd not even consider MCE. And the HP is just running XPE os creating a custom HP system probably wouldn't be impossible.

I'm really curious about how those linksys and other 'official' MCE extenders work. Does anyone want to buy one for me for 'testing'?

I think win95 was correct name, but it didn't release till summer of 96, but they still called it win95. Also WinNT 5.0 was the original name, but due to multiple delay that stretched to near the millenium that they decided to change the name to win2000. And WinXP came out in 2001, and longhorn or whatever its called when released, won't be out till 2007, 6 years after WinXP.

Boy, 3.0 beta has been a long time coming. I don't really mind all the waiting... It's all the missing of recordings that is really bugging me. We set up SageTV to record our Airchecks here at WLNE-TV. These are FCC mandated recordings of everything we put on the air. Sage was working flawlessly for the first two weeks... Then my entire manual schedule dissapeared. Apparently, there is a bug in 2.2 that causes your manually scheduled programs (48 1/2 hour blocks, repeating every day) to expire after 2 weeks. If this was at home and I'd payed $89 for the software, I could see waiting for 3.0's BETA. But when you pay 2.5 times that (or 4.5 times that if you bought the commercial version after 1/1/05), you kind of want a patch, not to wait for a beta that will most likely break something else vitally important.

But it was decided that a beta is what I must wait for, and seeing one soon would be nice. I get really tired of the phone calls at 3:30AM saying "We have no airchecks!" and spending the next hour sleepily rescheduling 48 programs over a VPN TS connection.

Still feel confident about May 30th? That's only a few days away. Heck, in Austrailia or Japan, it may already be the 30th.

Spring still has almost an entire month left in it. About 26 days left I think.

I'm a fan of the dilbert that goes:

Dilbert: We still have too many software faults. We'll miss our ship date.
Pointy Haired Boss: Move the lists of faults to the "Future Development" column and ship it.
Pointy Haired Boss thiking to himself: 90% of this job is figuring out what to call stuff.

Sadly, in my experience it can be all too true.

Granted Summer doesn't technically start until June 21st..

But not having an air conditioner for the last week and a half in Texas will make you believe Summer has already come! It was so hot in my room, the only thing I could do on my PC without getting overheating alerts was browse the internet and watch SageTV recordings.

Well the new AC feel sooooooo good.. hopefully 3.0 will feel like that too!

Anyone else from Texas old enough to remember the summer of 1980? (or was it '81...) My father didn't 'believe' in having A/C in the house & that summer had 5 months straight of nearly 100 F temps every day. We had to boil the water just to get it cool enough to make iced tea... (And there were lots of other really bad 'how hot was it' jokes.)

I was 7. My grandmother wouldn't let any of the kids in the house cuz she said we made too much of a mess. So we were all stripped down to our blue jean cut off shorts and no shirt, playing soccer in 100 degree heat.
