Well, Adrian. I don't know what to tell you because I'm not sure I understood your message.

You don't actually need to modify the properties. You just need to create the files with the correct names (athough you can try the two suggestions for additions/chages I mentioned above to). For those people who wish to translate the interface they can, but YOU don't have to. You just need the files. I did not translate the interface. Then you need to encode them in UTF-8. You'll probably need to change the font. I've said all this before.

In my properties file, I had to set the font numerous times, but that may have been because of the numerous mods I've made. If it shows up once, change it once.

Here's what I can tell you. I had the same problem you did--square boxes instead of Kanji in filenames, program names, and my EPG.

This is the method I used to fix it. It worked for me. I may work for you. But I can guarantee it won't work if you don't try it.

There's not much else I can offer. Maybe someone else can offer more sage advice.

Best of luck,

Steven

Hi Steve,
Just want to confirm of what i have done so far.
i tried to follow the instruction from the post you mention before. which won't work because there isn't a file name "SageTV3_i18n.properties"

I will try the method just like what you mention. save to UTF-8 and change the name.

will post result.

Thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Sorry for the slow response. I've been away for a few days.

I just downloaded the new version (WHS version) and looked for the files. I found them just where the instructions say they are supposed to be, so I don't know why you couldn't find them. Perhaps you could try looking again.

Best of luck.

Steven

Hi Steve,
No worry, thanks for the info. i now able to see the char set with chinese.
however when i tried to play them. they can't play with placeshifter. and i look at the log file. it seen like the file doesn't translate correctly from placeshifter to sagetv. i have attached the logfile from the placeshifter local machine. and the error. please see if something i can work to resolve this issue.
The font i used is Arial unicode MS

Thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

I'm sorry but I'm no expert when it comes to log files.

The error you got is very general in nature. Perhaps you could share more info with us until someone comes along who can tell us what your log file means.

Specifically, the particulars of what you were trying to do and your setup--OS of placeshifter computer, network connection (wired/wireless), etc. Do any files play properly? What happens when you try to play Live TV or other recordings?

Steven
