Virtual PC and Sage Client, etc. . .
Hey folks,
I was just wondering if anyone here has attempted to run the Sage Client on a Mac running Virtual PC. I just set it all up and the client crashes as soon as it boots up. VideoReDo does the same exact thing. Some apps seem to work fine, others not so fine. Oh and while we're on the Mac subject. . . Is there any application like VideoReDo for the mac? I usually just run Sage's mpegs through VRD without cutting anything because it produces files that I can readily burn to DVD. I've been trying to use iDVD to make some DVDs of TV shows and it just doesn't seem to like Sage's files. Any ideas? |

Might have to do with directx / 3d accelleration. Most of those virtual machines (on the pc anyway) only give you the most basic of hardware configurations.

I was wondering about the 3D acceleration thing myself. I've checked both the Sage TV and VideoReDo system requirements and neither seem to demand 3D. VPC does run the newest DirectX without any trouble as well so I'm kind of stumped.
I do agree in that it must somehow be video related. The virtual video card in VPC is tremendously lame. . . |

I know with VMWare Workstation there is a VM Tools application that you have to install in the guest OS to enable hardware acceleration... Don't know if you're using VMWare but that may do the trick.

I don't believe that there is a VMWare version for Mac. . . I have a bad feeling that I might need to wait for MS to produce a non crippled version of VPC before I can even think about getting this running properly.
