Remote Stopped Working

Hi Guys

Hope someone can help with this. I have the latest version of SageTV running and a PVR 150 card by Hauppauge. Everything was working great. The silver Hauppauge remote worked albeit seemed a little tempermental but it has simply stopped working. I have tried to resest / restart it but to no avail. I don't want to have to uninstall / reinstall sage as it has taken me ages to get everything set just the way I want....

Thanks in advance!!

Is there still a [SageTV] section in the irremote.ini file found in your Windows directory? Did you install new drivers for the 150's remote? If so, that would reset the ini file. You can download an ini from the Hauppauge links in my sig lines (#1 or #3).

A while back, there was a problem with the 150's remote stopping after a while, but I think there was a fixed driver for that on SHS's forum somewhere.

I did download new drivers from the hauppauge website which sounds like the problem. Does that mean I will need to re-install Sage or is there an easier / simpler solution???

Thanks!!

You just need to replace the ini file & restart ir.exe -- you probably did that already to get the newer 45 button remote to work with SageTV in the first place, so perhaps you still have the ini somewhere? If not, see the links I mentioned above.

I did use your link last night to replace the ini file and then restarted ir.exe but it still did not work. In fact, Sage would not start at all and gave me a java error. Finally got Sage to work again but had no joy whatsoever with the remote...

I'm not sure what to say about that -- irremote.ini should not affect SageTV at all, since it is only loaded & used by ir.exe. And, the only way that program intereacts with SageTV is to send keys or messages. (With the default ini file, SageTV must be the active program that has focus.)

Maybe double check that the drivers got installed correctly and/or that they are the correct ones for the card. (???)

Was java recently updated? (Perhaps it is set to automatically do so?) If it was updated, make sure only 1 version is installed now. The java updater likes to leave old versions installed.

Hey Opus

Thanks for all your help. I found another ini file, replaced the one I was using and bingo, it all seems to work again.

Cheers!
