How do I shift my video recording?
Hey. I bought the SageTV/Win250 package. I like it but there is one problem. Whenever I am recording, it appears that its recording at the right aspect ratio but when i play my recordings in windows media player i notice that on the left, the picture is black. it seems as if the video is shifted (w/ a black area as mentioned above). does anyone have any ideas how i can expand the picture so i see only what i recorded and no black area?

In the advanced setup there are aspect ratio settings. You can give it positive values (over 100) in the horizontal aspect to force it to expand into the overscan areas so you won't see the black part any more. I had to do that with mine too on the bottom. I first used powerstrip to shift the image around a bit too so it was centered a bit better. Then I used the aspect settings to change the picture so it lessened the overscan on the left/right settings and increased it on the up/down settings to eliminate a small black bar at the bottom of the screen.

I think the settings Kanati mentioned are for adjustment of playback within Sage and have nothing to do with capture.

ahh, that makes sense. i tried to adjust it but it didn't really change anything. the viewing of live tv was okay but when recording, there was still an issue. question: i still want to resolve this situation but i was considering getting a refurished tivo (40 hours). would you do the same (assuming you don't do a manual upgrade of the hard drive)? |
