No Visualisations Whilst Playing Music

Hi,

I run 2.2.8 , with the MCE 16x9 stv.
I have a 6600gt that I watch Sage on and a pvr-350 for capture.

I've had a read of the manual, and whilst I can see the picture of music playing, with a visualisation, I can't see one on my system when playing music.

Is thier anything I need to setup / configure , etc for this to work, or is it a limitation of the MCE stv ?

Any help most appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

I assume you are talking about Musik Jukebox. I find that if I start with one of my Play Lists, the Visualization Option is not there. So now I select "By Artist" or "By Album" and the visualization option is there. Click on it and you are in business.

Do you mean that you want to know how to get to the playback screen where the music visualization is shown, or that there is no visualization shown on the playback screen? An easy way to get to the playback screen while music is playing is to use the TV command, which toggles between the media playback screen and the last menu you were on.

Hi Guys,

thanks for the replys.
Wjohn, I've included a screenshot of my jukebox, with the album view selected, but I still can't see a visualisation - Is this the view you meant ?

Andy, when I am in the playback view, the screen is just black, I have the timeline bar shown for a few seconds, but once that is gone .....

Am I doing something daft - Is thier a settings in the property file I may have deleted somehow ?

Cheers

I forgot you were using a custom STV, so I don't know what all might have been changed in this regard. But, you could check to see if this property is set: videoframe/disable_visualizations=true. I haven't actually tested this property to see if it is still used, but it exists in my sage.properties file, set to false... and I see visualizations. (... as opposed to seeing 'visions', I suppose...)

Ha,

Thanks Andy, you reminded me that by US standards , I spell things incorrectly (By UK standards - it's you guys )

I'd searched the properties file with visualisation as the keyword, and come up with nothing.

However the simple addition of the Z found the setting you referred to videoframe/disable_visualizations=false.

Mine was also set to false.
Does the fact that I run in overlay make any difference ?

Also - should I be asking this in the customisations forum - Im wondering if it may be stv specific - I'll go back to standard and check it out.

Cheers

Mark

(BTW Andy - given the time difference between us and the current time over here - do you not bother with sleep ?)

Visualisations () should work in overlay.

Have you tried the obvious: load up OriginalV2 stv and see if you get visualisations? [edit -- just saw that you are about to do that!]

Also try a repair install (shutdown sage, backup properties files + wiz.* first though just in case!)

I left it here because, as far I know, visualiszations are an element of the core and are are not turned on or off by the STV. I just don't know why you aren't seeing anything, unless it is just using shades of black for the music you play. Let us know what happens with the default STV, though.

Either there are more than 1 of me, or I simply have non-standard sleeping hours.

Hi Guys,

Andy, I'll work on the assumption that you work non standard hours, and do the nosferatu shift, it's more acceptable than assuming you periodically bifurcate.

I tried switching to the standard STV. I get the visualisations option on the menu, but when I select it, the result is the same.

I'll try doing the repair install and see where I get.

Cheers

I had this same problem when I had the audio set to something other then default in setup....the audio worked (except it often cut the end of songs off), but the visualization didn't work 99% of the time.

Hi Ben,

thanks for the suggestion, I switched from default to reclock as my audio renderer, but it didn't change the visualisations Im afraid.

I'll do a repair install and see if that helps.

Cheers

Hmm

well I did a repair install, which made no difference.
My next thought is to backup, complete uninstall and then reinstall , and bang back in my properties and wiz.bin files.

Does anyone have any other thoughts ? (This is not a huge deal, it's just something I'd like ).

Cheers

Well,

I've done a complete uninstall, delete all tell tale traces of Sage.
Reinstall - same problem - no visualisations.

Does anyone else have any ideas ?

Cheers

to get visualizations with sage_mc you have to start playing a song and then scroll down to the "now playing" cover in the lower left hand corner and select it. this will bring up the visualizations screen (as generic as it is)

not the most seamless integration but it works well and does what it needs to do.

if you go through these steps and it still results in a black screen then it's likely video drivers. i had this problem (blank screen) when i was using some beta nvidia drivers.

I tried the navigating to the now playing song, and got a black screen.
I'll try putting in some older Nvidia drivers.

Well I tried downgrading the drivers to 66.93.
No Joy.
Tried the latest 77.76, still no joy.

Anyone know what version of the Nvidia drivers does work with visualisations ?

Cheers
