Different Version of DVD Decoder????
I have been fighting an error for sometime now with SageTV after a rebuild. Basically I am getting an audio exception when trying to use NVidia's Audio decoder.
What I have found is the the version of NVidia decoders I have (that came in a bundle of SageTV, FireFly remote, and NVidia decoder from PCAlechemy) is 1.00.58 and doesn't seem to work with my system. I downloaded and installed the latest trial version of decoders from NVidia's site (after uninstalling the old ones) which is ver 1.00.67 and it works. Has anyone else got version 1.00.58 of the NVidia Decoders working with their SageTV install? I am using the onboard audio on my GigaByte 7VRXP Motherboard and I am thinkning of disabling it and installing a PCI SoundBlaster Card to see if that helps, but I thought that I would first ask if anyone has this combination working. |

Couple comments:
1) You don't want the trial, you want the update version of the .67 decoders: ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/dvd_decoder/1.00.67/ 2) There's a newer version too, 1.02.145 (Your .58 info should work, mine did): ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/dvd_decoder/1.02.145/ 3) Depends on what you mean by .58 "working". That version does not support MPEG audio decoding, so you won't be able to use it for anything but DVD playback. None of the versions support DD decoding in Sage, only S/PDIF output. .67 and later do support MPEG audio decoding, so (at least when set to S/PDIF output) you can use them for Sage recordings also. |

Thanks for the quick response!
I found the update to .67 on PCAlchemy's website and jumped on that. After updating to .67 I no longer get the error so now I can see video, but no sound any ideas why that might be happening? I uninstalled all the decoders and then reinstalled the trial .67's to see if it behaved the same way and, yes, no sound with that either . Now I am off to try the later decoders that you pointed out THANKS! EDIT: Also, I noticed when I go into the DVD Decoder settings from the systray that I don't have an audio tab to configure, does everyone else have that? When I play from the WMP9 and then go into the decoder settings I can see and use the audio tab..... weird! EDIT EDIT: I just tried installing the latest decoders version 1.02.145 and it was prompting me for Name, email, activation key, etc. You mentioned that you were able to update, did you do it from version 1.00.58? If so, how may I ask! Last edited by TheThumper; 06-29-2005 at 07:39 PM. |

Yeah, with .145 I get asked that, but I bought the 1.00.58 from nVidia so I just used my info from the email I got (same stuff I use to register 1.00.58/67).
As for no audio, are you playing a DVD or normal file? And do you have Nvidia Audio Decoder selected in the apropriate section (there are two places Audio and DVD tabs). And finally, do you have it set to S/PDIF? |

The questions for registrying are different for 1.00.58 and 1.00.67/145. In the later versions they want your name, email, credit card number (last 4) and key where as with the earlier all I have is the Product Code, Distribtor, and key (maybe one more thing too but they were different) I will try and play around with that. Have you had it installed more than 30 days? You don't think you got the "trial" version do you?
As for what I am playing, regualar DVD fresh from the store. I have NVidia selected for both video and audio in both the "general" and DVD settings. Since I don't have the audio tab present when viewing decoder settings while playing SageTV I can't verify, but I did set it to SPDIF Audio out while I was playing a DVD via the WMP (where I do get the audio tab). |
