Problem with Favorites

I set King of the Hill to manual delete, keep at most 2. Right now, I have no King of the Hills.

here is the behavior I want:

it gets 2 king of the hills and stops recording them, even though there is a king of the hill marathon.

here is the behavior I get:

it gets all king of the hills within the next 2 days.

Right now, my scheduled recordings show king of the hill getting recorded 14 times or so between now and monday. is there anyway sage can be smarter about this, figure out that since its going to record 2 king of the hills, it should wait to see whether to record more? or is there anyway i can manually update the scheduler? the thing is, I don't want ot have to be around to do that. if king of the hill gets its second showing at 2 am, I don't want to have to wake up and then manually do an update. but i also don't want a thousand king of the hills. just two.

one of the few times i've had problems with sage intelligence.

See the comment about Keep At Most on p. 61 in the v2.2 manual.

Scheduling is dynamic and updates as certain events occur. When updating the schedule, it doesn't take into consideration that it will only record X number of shows; instead, it checks the number of shows & if it can add more, it schedules them. So, once the limit is reached, the remainder will disappear from the schedule. Once in a while, I get 1 extra show recorded, but that is usually because the extra episode aired immediately after the last one, or they aired simultaneously on 2 different channels.

I don't mind one or two extra (maybe I owuld mind two), but anything more I definitely have a problem with. But, if what you say is true, and I end up getting more than 1 extra show, I should report this as a bug?

I am sure that I've had this happen to me before where I end up with 5 or 6 episodes, oddly enough with King of the Hill usually. One big reason is probably because it airs so much that there are multiple times when there are consecutive episodes. But your behavior is not what I've previously had.

note, I only have one tuner card.

I believe this behavior changed with v2.1, so it may depend on which version you are using now, or which version you were using when it happened before. So far, I don't remember getting more than 1 extra episode recorded, but maybe you ran into situations different from what I've experienced. As long as you are using v2.2.8, I would just wait to see what happens over the next couple days -- as far as I know, the schedule should update itself after a recording is made & eventually knock out the additional KOTHs.

Are you using v2.2.8? You said that AutoDelete is No and Keep At Most is 2? If so, I don't think that fav should be recording that many.

Is there another Favorite that is recording the extra KOTH episodes? Check each recording's details screen & check its Favorite Options to see if it is being recorded under the correct Fav. (Or just check your Fav list for another KOTH entry, or some type of fav that might cause that show to be recorded.)

Are all the recordings outlined in white? If not, then IR is picking them up instead. (I think that might have happened to me when I limited a fav to a specific channel & then IR recorded them on another channel, but I'm not certain.)

I am using 2.2.8, checked all of the files and it points to one KOTH favorite, and I don't have IR turned on.

Sure sounds like it isn't working properly, as if the schedule isn't getting updated soon enough after the recordings are made.

BTW: now that it has recorded a few too many, has the schedule been updated yet to remove more upcoming KOTH shows, or are they still recording?

the schedule has been updated and removed upcoming KOTH shows. I think the schedule updated after it recorded the 5th one. But there was definitely a 1 1/2 hour gap between 2nd and 3rd. Thats what I don't understand.

... makes me wonder how often the schedule should get updated, because I don't remember getting more than 1 extra recording, even during marathon show airings. Edit: The reason why the schedule isn't getting updated soon enough is being looked into.

I just wanted to add that I have experienced the problem as well. Right now I have 7 recorded shows on a favorite set to keep at max: 4. Now that it has hit 7 (or now that it's a new day?) there are no more episodes set to record in the upcoming schedule.

Yeah, like I said above: this seems to be related to how often the schedule gets updated & it is being looked into as to why it isn't occuring in time to take into account the fact that the KAM setting has been reached.
