Cheapest Blaster?

Hey all,

Just moved to a new village (hehe...now they're not missing their idiot anymore) and picked up a new cable provider. I've got a different cable box than I previously had with a Scientific Atlanta explorer 2200. I'm looking at purchasing an IR Blaster to work with Sage but am not sure on what to get that would fit my criteria:

1. Must be cheap
2. Must work and be better than a default PVR-350 remote

I was looking at a MCE Remote to use with it but I run XP Home and most people said this doesn't fly. So, I'm not really sure where to look next. I'd like to garner some suggestions from those of you out there who know remotes and blasters and can give me some insight. Thanks in advance!

Firstly, I would call your cable company and see if they have a box with a serial connection (it's always worth asking). I am using a serial connection with the multi-tuner plugin and I can't recall ever having a missed channel change.

Next, I would consider USBUIRT. I bought the MCE remote for my sister's setup and ended up adding the USBUIRT to change channels on her satellite box. The MCE remote works great for input, but I just wasn't having any luck using the blasters to change channels. This could be because I am the idiot in my village, but I did spend a lot of time trying to get it to work.

Let's say they don't have a box I can use with serial connection...

Is there a cheaper one than USBUIRT?
