How do you edit the Weather.bat file?

Hey all, I'm currently building a PVR and testing the different software programs. I am leaning heavily toward Sage.

I have been playing around with the Cayar and SageMC STVs.

I configured the XML file and can access the weather suite ok, but I can seem to figure out how to edit the .bat file for using the local weather. When I type in the zip code, it just hangs.

Can someone please point me to or help me in editing the .bat weather file so I can get this thing working.

You will need to open weatherconfig.xml in your SageTV dir. Not sure where your getting a .bat file.

Use notepad or an XML editor. The comments are very helpful in the file and explain a lot. Scroll down to locations, it should look something like this:

<weathersourceinfo id="USFL0479"/>
</location>

Edit the info as you need. The id can be a zip code or actual id. That should give you the local weather.

Yeah, thats what I did, and it worked for the Weather Suite info. When I try and use "Local Weather" it says to type in my zip code. I do that, and it hangs on the "Loading" screen. I checked the Weather Suite docs and it says something about editing the .bat file and running a cmd line.

The weather suite works in Cayars, just not SageMC. Can someone post their weather.xml and what weather files they have and where, so I can compare?

The Weather Suite (which uses the xml file as a config) does not exist in SageMC.

The Local Weather screen (which exists in Cayars and SageMC and is independant from the weather suite) is configurable with the zipcode by right-clicking the screen and entering it. If it is hanging on 'loading...' then it is most likely that the external program used to retrieve the weather info is failing...

Run the getweather.bat with your zip and weather.txt as arguments (getweather.bat 12345 weather.txt) to see what errors you get

It's probably the case that nobody actually *needs* the Weather Report Suite, regardless of which STV they use .

Well what I was saying is that in Cayars STV, there are 2 independant weather screens with different config systems. (cayars combined lots of peoples work with his own in his STV). These are the very powerful 'Weather Report Suite' (by Salsbst -- configured using the xml file) and the 'Local Weather' screen (by mlbdude)

In Mlbdude's SageMC STV, there is only the 'Local weather' screen. Search the SageMC thread for ways of troubleshooting it.

Ok, I seem to have got both working for the weather conditions. There are images in Cayars for the Local Weather. The images in the Weather suite, however, are not showing.

Here are my Sage Properties.

I feel like I am missing a line referring to the "GetWeatherJava" file. I remember seeing someone's properties and there was a reference to the GetWeatherJava, I just can't find it again. If someone can post a copy of their Sage properties for the weather section, that might be helpful.

al of those properties are for local weather... getweatther3 is also for local weather, and should appear in the properties...

the only WRS properties are related to the weatherconfig.xml file and startup options, which contains the location of the images (normally in a "weather.com icons" subdir of the SageTV directory)

Is it possible that you didn't download and install the 'corefiles' zipfile for Cayars STV that contains all the images?

In anycase the WRS images are available on the WRS's own zipfile
