OSD resizes itself when Overlay video is used

I actually had a problem similar to this in 2.2.8, but I'm still seeing it in 3.0.5, so I'm posting it here.

When overlay video is selected, the OSD resizes itself under certain circumstances. When video is recorded, the OSD gets bigger and then gets smaller again when I hit stop to stop recording. The only exception to this is the Guide... it never changes.

Example: I am at the main menu, screen looks good. I go to the guide, select a show to record as LiveTV. It starts recording. I then hit "livetv" to go full screen, and now the OSD has gotten bigger... the show info and status bar are partially outside the borders of the screen. If I then hit exit twice to go back to the main menu, the screen is still oversized. NOW, if I hit Stop... recording stops and the OSD snaps back to normal size.

If I set the system to use VMR9 it does not do this. I wasn't able to determine this with 2.2.8 since VMR9 never quite worked correctly... but it works fine with 3.0.5. I prefer the look of overlay on my system, so I would like to use it if possible.

Any ideas? Hardware is AthlonXP 2200 on MSI nForce K7N2GM2 (nForce2 IGA) using the integrated GeForce4 graphics and dual PVR-150s. I'm using nVidia decoders (tho the problem is the same with SageTV and cyberlink decoders).

This was a problem introduced by later Nvidia video card drivers. If you go back to a 53.XX version I beleive you will not see the problem any more.

Be aware if you use coolbits registry hack to overclock, it is not supported for versions prior to 55.xx

Exactly. Had the same issue here. I believe this bug is only present using tv-out, however.

OK, any other ideas? I tried reverting to 53.04 drivers, but it couldn't identify my video card, and I was stuck with the standard VGA driver. I'm using the integrated GeForce4 MX GPU on an MSI board with nForce2 IGA chipset.

I don't like the look of VMR9 on my system and I certainly don't like the OSD resizing when using overlay. Am I stuck with getting an ATI? I hope not... I got this mobo specifically so that I wouldn't have to crowd another card into my little Antec Aria case.

that's weird, these drivers worked perfectly with my GeForce4 MX 440...

Are these the ones you downloaded: http://www.nvidia.com/object/pc_winxp-2k_53.04.html ?

Yah, those were the ones. Maybe I'll try it again later after dinner...

Also, it looks like BeyondTV had this exact same problem, but it was fixed in 3.5.2, released 2/10/2005. Maybe SageTV will fix this bug instead of us having to root around installing old drivers?

I tried downgrading as well to get rid of the resize issue.
I had the same problem - No video card spotted (I have a 6600gt).

Before I wade my way through all the release notes - Does anyone know of a version compatible with the 6 series cards , which does not have the overlay issue ?
