'black' screen in client & 85% cpu utilization

Anyone have any clues here?

I am running SageTV 3.07 on my desktop pc. No problems. I just enabled the server feature and restarted. From my wireless laptop, I have installed SageTV 3.07 client. I've told it the name of the desktop pc. It discovers it and goes through all of the initialization steps. The SageTV window opens but is completely black. I checked the running processes and found that it was utilizing 85% of the CPU of the laptop.

I have stopped the process, rebooted and allowed it to run again. Same. The SageTV client window is black and the SageTV client process is utilizing 85% of the cpu. I don't have anything else notable running, not even any virus software (temporarily stopped it).

P.S. - I've run version 2.x of SageTV / client in this configuration on the same laptop with no problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
David

This can be caused by two things :
1) Make sure ther are no Sage executables running. Edit the Sage.Properties or SageClient.Properties and change the line "ui/accelerated_rendering=true" to "ui/accelerated_rendering=false".
2) The old versions installed in "C:\ProgramFiles\Frey Technologies\SageTV". 3.07 installs in "C:\ProgramFiles\Frey Technologies\SageTV". It attempts to update your .Properties file, and put in in the new directory, but does not change the path of the Win.Bin file. Again, make sure ther are no Sage executables running. Edit the Sage.Properties or SageClient.Properties and change any paths that point to "C:\ProgramFiles\Frey Technologies\SageTV". You may alos have t manually copy the Wiz.Bin to the new location.

Thanks for that. I will give it a try. Do you have an explanation for the 85% cpu utilization of the SageTV GUI executable?

Are you talking about editing this on the server or the client?

Don't know if you already fixed this but I got the same problem when I istalled the 3.0.7 beta. I fixed it with new Videocard drivers.
