numeric text entry in search for programs

I love this new feature, but the only time it worked well for me was on the first day (and, I think, when my database had been accidently cleared ).

Anyways, the behaviour is that even if I up the timeout time in the sage setup configuration, it is still next to useless because every time I enter a letter (or press a number to begin entering a letter) the little sage spin icon comes up (resorting the databse of show titles I think) and it makes entering the text completely unusable.

Can we please fix this awesome feature so it works properly?
I think this behaviour happens in all areas where there is any database access -- I think the only place it doesnt happen is in keyword favorites (which is great, but I only enter a keyword favorite about three times a year)..

does anyone have any thoughts besides upping the timeout time even more? (its already at 3 seconds for pete's sake)

Oh yeah... I think that was something that was known -- look into only having it refresh the search after the NTE timeout period is over, or some time after that. It just never made it to the top of the to-do list yet.

BTW: have you tried typing the number as many times as needed to get the letter you want even though the display wasn't updated in between presses?

I'm glad to hear that its on a list somewhere -- thats mostly why I posted (because I wasnt sure it would be classified as a bug...)

I press the correct number of presses immediately, and they slowly "queue" through, but depending on how the delays happen, often it will still choose the wrong letter.

I upped the timeout to *5* seconds now, and that seems to make it a little bit easier to use, but its still bloody painful. I'll patiently await a fix though, so long as I know it will be at some point. thanks for replying !

Oh.. on another topic ! I've just noticed that program information (like episode summaries) no longer show up on the info OSD (ie: if you hit the info button while playing a show, it brings up the title, channel, the progress bar, and it used to bring up the blurb about the show, but now that is missing. Have I changed something inadvertently or is this a difference in the STV in 3.05 / 3.07 ? thx

Yeah, it was probably an inadvertant change -- see p. 107 in the v3 manual (revision d) regarding using the Left & Right arrows to toggle the show's description.
