Cable Box Banner at start of every program

I was wondering if there is a way to prevent Sage from sending IR blaster commands to my cable box at the beginning of each program. For example if I'm watching Sci Fi Channel Live on Friday night, Sage will send the command to change the channel to Sci Fi at the beginning of Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica, even though a channel change was not necessary. I find the banner displaying at the beginning of each show annoying, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a property that could help you: mmc/always_tune_channel=false (See Appendix A in the SageTV PDF manual.) Setting it to false will prevent it from issuing a channel change at the start of every show when they are on the same channel.

The downside is that if the first channel change didn't work properly, SageTV won't know it & it won't try to change the channel for the next show & you'll miss more than 1.

For v2, you have to edit the properties file while SageTV (or the service) is not running. For v3, there is a setting for it in Detailed Setup -> Customize.

My Comcast Mot 6200 cable boxes have an option in the configuration menu to disable the show info from being displayed after channel changes. Chech to see if you have that configuration option.

Send a message via Yahoo to cmaffia
However not displaying the banner entirely by disabling it from the setup in the receiver can be bad too. It is a way to confirm that Sage has in fact changed the channel correctly.

I went back to make note of how to change that option on my STB when I then discovered I had misspoken. Under SETUP/GUIDE there is are options for the Flip Guide Box, but you have option for the position and how long it is displayed. I thought you could set it for any time including 0 seconds, but the shortest duration is 3 seconds. I was looking at changing that on my boxes since the firewire channel control seems to be pretty reliable for me. Oh well!

My 6412 box only shows Guide Data on the DVI port but does not show it at all on the Composite/SVideo. According to the manual on the 6412:

"Standard definition connections (S-Video or composite Video) will only display on screen graphics if the YPbPr Output is set to 480i"

Since I output in 1080i it doesn't display on my S-Video or composite video.

Based on the 6200 manual it should be the same. Here is the link to the manual:
http://broadband.motorola.com/consum...User_Guide.pdf
Specifically page 32 in the 6200 manual has a chart showing where the guide data will show up.

Hope this helps.
BobP.
