Hardware Requirements from V2 to V3
I can run version 2 on my laptop no problem. Tried upgrading to version 3 but sage hangs after initalising. All I get is a black window and 100% CPU usage. I have tried changing ui/accelerated_rendering=false in the properties files. Does anyone know if there have been any changes in the hardware requirements from v2 to v3 that my be causing this or any other ideas

I don't know that the hardware requirements have changed, but the supported hardware is being expanded. Perhaps there is something on the laptop that the beta is trying to use, but isn't using it correctly? The problem described in this thread has SageTV exiting instead of sitting at 100% cpu usage, but you could still check the link in my first reply there to see if by some chance that helps.
First, though, you might want to try exiting SageTV completely, making backup copies of your properties files, deleting the originals, then restarting SageTV to see if a new configuration helps. - Andy

The only encoder (for audio i think) is already in the ignore_encoders line. From looking at the sage tv log I think there is a problem with displaying the sage tv interface.
I only get i black screen. The last line on the log is "Thu 8/25 9:13:57.945 PM currState=0 wakeupTime=Thu 1/1/1970 1:00:00.000" If i press return a couple of times, the log then contains information about "Configuration Wizard - Choose Country" which iirc is the first steps in the configuration wizard. Does anyone know if sage ver 2 worked with directx ver 8? I've looked deeper into the video card. I have installed the directx 9 drivers but the diagnostic programe says the onboard video can not do direct3d version 9. So i am assuming this is the problem. Just need to convince work to upgrade me. Thanks for the help. JJ

Run SageTV in Overlay Mode. You can set that in the config file. Then see if it loads completely for you. Also, make sure 3d accelleration is off.

You can set ui/accelerated_rendering=false to turn off 3D Acceleration.
