Converting!!!

I have searched high and low and still haven't found a good solution for converting my mpeg files to dvd. I've used Ulead, nero recode, virual dub, and more but still have had no results. With Ulead i can do it but i can't make it output to a folder which is a must for me. If anyone can help me it'd be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Roxio EasyCD and DVD builder. I use that to burn my sage recorded mpegs to DVD and I remember seeing an option to "burn to folder on hard drive". I never tried it so I don't know if it builds the correct dvd folder structure or not.

Sorry, I just checked and it is "save image file to disk" so I guess it records an .iso file to the HD.

How about burning a DVD-RW, then using DVD shrink to rip the files from the disk to the HD?

I've used PINNACLE STUDIO 7 thru 9 over the last several years. The current version (9) is perfect for what you want. It allows you to edit the video, do some decent transitions and depending on package you get (program can cost from $60 to over $250) some darn good hollywood type effects, if your into that kind of thing.

Best of all it's a USER FRIENDLY GUI with drag and drop ease of use.

I sent my SAGE MPEG video thru my network to my video editing PC and from there I edit comercials, create menus and effects/transitions then I can burn to disc (DVD, CD-R (as VCD or SVCD)) or to avi, MEG, as well as various other formats and compresstions.

The only downside is it isn't free.

Copy my Sage MPEGs over the net to my PC ...
Edited out commercials ...
Created menus ...
And burned a DVD ...

Love it ! Worth the money ... Especially since I can build professional looking home videos on DVD ...

My story too. I started with v7 and now 8. I ought to get 9. I like the multiple tracks.
Taking out commercials in Pinnacle Studio is quick. You can also make very slick DVD motion menus in a snap.

For REALLY professional results, I grab a good frame of the video and use it as the background for the DVD menu. I use that same framegrab for the background for printing on the DVD and the DVD cover sleeve. It sounds like a lot of work but it actually only takes minutes to make the DVD menu, print DVD and print DVD sleeve.

Hmm last time I look at Pinnacle Studio it wasn't all that hot and way slow and do not have any demo.

And to this day the best Frame-accurate editor are still VideoReDo and Womble MPEG2VCR or MPEG Video Wizard.
Also check out DVDComposer it pettey cool.

I started with 7 and yes it had some bugs, but Pinnacle my experience has been that it has improved with each upgrade ...

BTW ... Pinnacle is now part of Avid and ... V.10 is coming ...
