Directv serial tuning?
Hi,
I just switched from Dish to DirecTV, I was using a USB-UIRT to control the Dish box. Worked OK, but missed a digit here and there. Now, I'd like to use serial control on a D10 DTV IRD (I know about the channels below 100 problem). My question is - can I still use the USB-UIRT as a receiver when using serial control? It isn't working, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Do I have to use the IR device that came with my PVR-250? I'm only trying to control 1 box. Thanks! Rob |

Thanks for the reply, but the USB-UIRT is still listed in "commands". What's strange is the Dish4900 IR file is listed as tuner control as well as DirecTVSerialControl Com1. See attached. Now I'm confused!

I noticed you are running the v3 beta. Perhaps try getting rid of sage.properties & it autobackup, then reconfigure (save your old properties files first). Maybe there is an issue when trying to configure the same input & just changing a couple things.

Opus,
I feel like an idiot. My homemade serial cable was wired wrong. I used "DirecTV Serial Control Utility" to figure it out. Now serial tuning works great, except of course the channels under 100, but I can live with that. Thanks for your help, I guess I cried wolf too soon. Rob |

Opus (and others),
George at Sage sent me a replacement DLL that will tune the channels below 100 using serial control on a DirecTV D10-100. Don't know if it will work on a -200 or -300, but works well on my -100. Thanks to George at Sage and to Opus for pointing me to the solution! Rob |

I'm not sure what the devs did with the new dll but ... it has issues. It appears to function (I/O wise) as the prior rev.

Anyone have a fix for this yet? If so.... how do I get it ...
Also I have a D10 and everytime my receiver does not record for a while the directv screensaver comes up with the logo flying across the screen... Anyone know how to stop this? Last edited by BBCritical; 09-14-2005 at 05:21 PM. |

No fix, no word, no nothing in 3 weeks. That's almost 8 weeks so far. Good luck on your support request.

Finally! It's fixed (at least for me) Thanks Sage!
Oh, and if you want a quick and easy serial connection; use a Cisco db9 console cable and a 4p4c standard telephone headset cord works like a champ and was free (at least for me). |

A new DLL with a couple of registry additions worked immediately afterward. I haven't bothered to scope it (no time).
My WAG as to the issue(s), either: a. change the serial port grooming b. the obvious reg changes c. combination of above d. none of the above FWIW I'm running 3.0.5b --------------------- So now that one STB works; any idea if this DLL will work with multiple STBs? I have 4 I want to connect Last edited by dagar; 09-17-2005 at 08:56 AM. |

after all, they are (ahem) all D* reference architecture STBs; just 3 different OEMs. And there is never any interpretation of a reference standard either |

Has anyone found a way to get rid of the directv screen saver where the logo goes flying across the screen?
