New user with a question.

Hi Folks,

I am trying out the sagetv software for the 1st time and have a question.

1) I have set up the server on a desktop pc wired to a router. I have the client software loaded on my laptop going through the same router but wireless. I am able to connect when I am at home and both server and client are on the same network. However, when I try to connect from work to set up a recording I connect, see the menu, and then it looses connection and never regains. (I have the router set up to forward port 42024) So it seems I can connect but only for a few seconds and then the connection drops. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sage is designed to work across a LAN not the internet. If you want to do scheduling across the internet you'll need to use nielm's webserver plugin:

Just use Remote Desktop, if you have XP. I use it all the time from work and it works like a charm.

Mind you, I use a PVR-350 video out, I understand there can be a few annoying complications if you are using a regular video card out.

FWIW.

oh: VNC also works not too bad, but in my opinion it sucks compared to RDP.
