Newbie questions - codecs/remote buttons

Hello -

New to SageTV, have a couple of questions. First, equipment -

Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 (latest drivers, etc installed)
Compaq Evo n610c laptop, P4 2Ghz, 1G mem, ATI Radeon 7500 video
Displaying on my TV via s-video out from laptop
Display set to 800X600, 16 bit

1) Live TV picture is blocky. Have tried setting to Best for recording quality, tried switching to the Hauppauge codec, tried various overlay settings, etc to no avail. TV looks fine when played through WinTV. I realize that Sage is always recording (any way to turn that off ?) but I don't think it should look that bad. Recomendations on what codec to use/other Sage settings or video settings I can change ?

2) Buttons on the Hauppage remote - when I am in the Program Guide and I click on a show with the mouse it goes to a screen with the synopsis and options on the left - Watch Now, etc. If I press the OK button on the remote it takes me right to watching the show. Is there a button on the remote that will take me to the synopsis screen or is there a way to assign that function to a button ?

#1) Check the recording's detailed info screen & scroll down on the lower right side to see what recording quality was used. Make sure it really did record at the rate you are trying to use.

#2) Use the Info command. Check the docs for the remote you have to see which button that is.
