what happened to dvd

when I initially set up my sage tv system, I opted to not put in a dvd drive for the sake of putting in more harddrives, I recently purchased a usb dvd player that works on all my other systems accept for the box I put sage in, the problem is that wmp won't play them either, for the excuse that there is no decoder assigned to play dvds, but this is not true since I can use media player classic to play them on this box, put what is strange is that sage won't play them and neither will wmp, even though I apparently have decoders installed. Wmp says that no liscenes can be found, and sage spits out an exception error, I don't really no where to start trouble shooting this one since I've never had this problem before

You probably don't have decoders installed, MPC has it's own internal, non-directshow decoders (ie no other apps can use them).
