Recording FM Radio

I'm hoping there are a few folks out there that can help me out on this. I'll soon be adding a PVR-500 to my SageTV server that currently houses a 150. I don't anticipate any problems on the TV end. The one thing that bugs me is that many of the cards have FM radio receivers built in but I can't seem to find much info on recording radio programs.

Anyone have tips that might help me out on this? I'm hoping to find something that will allow me to schedule radio programs for recording, doesn't really matter what format.

Thank in advance,

David

To my knowledge (it's been asked before) sage does not support FM radio recording. There is no program guide that sage can grab program data from to schedule the recordings.

A reg program guide is not really need the guide could be just by FM channel number where automatic listed in main guide but it be need be abjust by min of add 15min's option the like 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90min's and beyond.
I try min to get them add FM support but as it stand far I of that only that work are GB-PVR, ChrisTV which are only that allow you to do MP3 recoding there my be other but I have not test any of the other like Meedio (Plug-in but not sure if work with PVR 150/500), Media Portal (Windows XP only carp).

I was pretty much settled on not using Sage for the recording. I had hoped that someone also had this interest, and while this might not be the best place to ask, might have some suggestions on a non-Sage solution. I figured a bunch of folks here have the capability with all those MCE's out there and perhaps someone has found a good way to take advantage of the FM tuner built in.

Also remember that the cards can only use the FM tuner OR the TV Tuner -- you can't use both simultaneously. So, recording FM prevents SageTV from recording TV & vice versa. My solution was to use a USB FM-only tuner & leave the Hauppauge cards for TV recordings.

You rigth Andy but there nothing like having a Dual Tuner but even one Tuner shouldn't be much of problem for scheduling Radio programs at X:YZ(time) just like any TV show scheduling.
David81 just so you know MCE don't have an option for scheduling Radio programs it only play in realtime.

Can you recomend a USB tuner? Are there any that do AM? What software do you use for it?

I use Radiator on a couple PCs with Dlink's DSB-R100 USB radio. I don't think you will find those radios anywhere other than ebay. I don't know what other radios to suggest or whether any have AM capability.

Oh yeah -- CompUSA carries the RadioShark, which says it does AM & FM. Edit: I see SHS beat me to that one.
