Unhappy Ok, so what has gotten corrupted??

Hello All,

Just started having a strang problem with sage. When try to view some of my recorded programs sage will not show all the recordings of the selected program, it sometimes just tunes into the lowest channel in the guide. Sometimes instead of showing all the recordings of a particular show it goes strait to the series settings for this show. Some of the recorded programs seem to work fine. If I shut down and restart the problems are still there. Can someone tell me which file(wiz bin/bak, properties) has gone south on me and needs replacing?

EDIT: I also had a couple of channels suddenly show up in the guide that have never been activated.

Also, will whatever file needs to be replaced with a backup cause my recordings to be moved to the library??

If it matters: Sage 2.2.8, SageMC16x9.

Thanks in advance.

Jesse

Ok, more weirdness. When I access sage via the pc everything seems to work just fine (except the channel the somehow got enabled on its own is still there).

So the problem only manifests iteself when I am using the remote. Would this mean a problem with one of the properties files?

Thanks,
Jesse

Is the channel new to your programming lineup? When new channels are added to your lineup Sage automatically enables them.

Do you have kids in the house? I have encountered strange issues before when the kids have found the remote....;-)

Hi,

As a matter of fact, I think that it was a new channel. That explains that.

No, the kids are too small to even get the remote.

I tried changing the the two prop. files but no go.

Maybe I'll try going back to the standard STV.....

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Jesse

Just a wild guess here, but have you tried new batteries in the remote?

I've had strange behaviour when the remotes batteries have been nearly flat. Presumably because the code detected by Sage changes.

I'll second that. Most remotes just stop working, or only work "sometimes" when the batteries are low, but I have one that exhibits weird keypresses when the batteries are just about to give up the ghost.

Hi,

Good thinking folks: try the simple stuff first. The batteries are not that old, but I will definitely give it a try tonight.

Thanks again,

Jesse

Update:

Unfortunately, new batteries in the remote did not solve the problem

I tried replacing the entire sagetv folder (sans wizbin and wizbak) in the frey directory with a backup. No go.

I tried going back to the standard stv. No go.

What seems to be happening is that when I press "select" on the remote sage is executing it twice. Once again, it works fine if I access and operate sage from the pc/keyboard. Any chance this is related to the usbuirt? I guess I will look for an updated usbuirt driver, or just try removing and re-installing if I already have the latest driver.

Anyone have any thoughts. I'd be happy to try any SWAG's you folks care to offer about now.

Thanks,
Jesse

Have you checked what code (or codes) SageTV has learned for Enter?

At one point I was using a remote that sent out code twice for each normal button press. (actually the remote for my digital receiver switched to 'TV')When I taught Sage some of the codes I must have half pressed some of the keys or something because it only learned half the code for a normal keypress. When I used the remote normally some of the keys did things twice.

Or if its a progamable remote, then maybe its programming has gone wrong.

How fast is your response time with your USB-UIRT? I usually see a delay while using it-maybe its some kind of a cumulitive multiple key pressing response. Maybe it is responding to multiple key strokes/ wrong codes transmitted etc. Definitely worth checking your Sage Commands links with the remote.
Finally- also worth checking any other remote that you can link to Sage via the USB-UIRT interface- just to rule out problems with remote keypad shorts!

Problem solved

I discovered that somehow my remote was sending two different codes for the select button. How this happened, and why after months of no problem it suddenly reared its ugly head I do not know. How I managed to get two codes learned for this button I do not know. But hey, I'm willing to say it was the nut behind the wheel. It was very weird, sage would not even let me un-learn the ir code linked to select. I had to manually blow it out in the prop. files.

Anyhow, I learned a new code into the remote and taught it to sage and no more problems.

Turns out that pjwerdna and naln were on the right track. To bad I did not see their posts until after I muddled through it.

Thanks again for everyones kind assistance.

Jesse
