Question The Analog Hole-getting in under the wire

Hi,

With the broadcast flag/analog hole rearing its ugly head again I have a question. Will my current capture devices ignore the flag? If I pick up a couple more "pre flag" capture cards and go HDTV while I can still get a display with component inputs will the flag be rendered ineffective on my system?

This whole thing is just dumb. The crooks will still figure a way to circumvent the copy protection, and then these circumvention progs will get distributed on the net. As usual, only the honest will get screwed.

Best way to fight against this is by writing your Senator. Here's the information from EFF's website: https://secure.eff.org/site/Advocacy...rAction&id=129

I've already written to protest the Broadcast Flag on SageTV's behalf.

the crooks will ofcourse circumvent this because it has exclusions for 'professional equipment' so as long as you're willing to drop a few grand up front you can get equipment that has a waiver, so your standard consumer is the only one really screwed

Signed, and I sent it to my 5 closest friends/family to sign also.

I just sent a protest on my behalf. I would suggest that all of us join in on this issue. Don't let the FCC dictate how you watch TV!

By the way, it only takes 30 seconds using the link Dan provided, to voice your concerns to your elected officials.

I did not know that. Man, why is the little guy always getting picked on? I signed the petition. Seems over the last 4 years I am signing more and more of these trying to stop some anti-consumer legislation or another (and they are not confied to technology). The biggest problem with these petitions is that, on the ones that show you the list, most of the signees are from just a few States. However, to stop things like this for good, it requires alot more Congresspeople or Senators than those from a handful of States. There must be a way to get more people from the "other" states to get involved, if only to take a few minutes and sign an online petition. Why aren't more people angry, I just don't understand.

Sent mine. Thanks for the link. Don't have anything HD yet, but sure don't like DRM...

Why the bigshots think copy protecting stuff will help I don't know. It only will mess with regular TV watching folks. The crooks won't even blink...

Ohh it will happen in Canada but as usually, the Candian goevrment will tell you what you can or can't do since the will of the people is less then the will of the goverment and the few in power.

If anyone is interested, I have an excel sheet with all the US senators on it with their mailing addresses in case someone is interested in mailing actual letters to all of them. It's setup so you can mailmerge it to word or word perfect.

Drop me a PM if you would like to receive it via email.
