4.0 and editing recordings
I have unsuccessfully tried to edit my recordings (take out commercials and/or change from mpg to divx) based on a thread which I found in these forums. I did not spend a lot of time trying to figure out why it didn't work (it was only a couple of days ago that I started trying to do such crazy things). My question is: With version 4, can you edit the mpgs of recordings and/or convert them and keep them in the recordings area? Without the the 10 to 15 step process which I found before.
BTW, I just installed 4, but so far it is looking pretty sweet. I love that now you can finally see show information for previously recorded shows. Need to go through there and mark some unwatched cause I want to see them again. |

Bueller?
No one has any idea if changing the video file in the recording directory works differently in 4? Even if someone knows that it works the same it would be nice to hear that.

Not exactly an answer to your question, but related.
Several month's ago I had converted several of Mpegs into WMV because I wanted to keep them around, but also reduce the file size. Since v4 can now import WMV's I setup the folder I had stored the WMV's as an import folder. Today I'm using the web server manage my recordings and noticed several shows that I didn't think I'd kept. Turned out to be the WMV's. The recordings web page is showing all the show info for the WMV version just like the MPGs. All I can figure is since I only changed the extension that Sage was able to map the airing information back to the originally recorded show. In fact I can click on the file and view it in Window Media player. Sweet! |
