Network Encoder Setup Help

So I finally got around to trying to get this to work, and I am having problems still.
I am running Sage v4 on 2 PCs. The first has a PVR150 in it, and is acting as the server, and the 2nd has a PVR 350 in, which is running SageTV.exe -client.
I have followed the instructions in http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...4753#post84753
and still can't get the network tuner to work correctly.
In the Server, when I select the Input on the remote tuner, i get an error -
Playback Exception (-3, 0x80004005) There was a problem accessing the filesystem for playback.

Now I know the server can access the client machine, as I have drives mapped, i am logged in as the same user on both, etc. Also, if I start sage normally on the client (i.e without -client) I can view the TV output.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thank you

Running sage on the second computer with the -client switch will not enable network encoder support. You'd need to be running the full version of sage without the switch.

If I run it without the switch, how do I use it as 'a client'? As it behaves like a standalone instance of sage, which means it doesn't detect the recordings from the other Sage box.

You would either need to run a full version minimized to the system tray icon, then run another copy with the -client, or run the service mode.

Ah that's a bugger, i was under the impression that I could do it all with 2 copies of Sage....guess my PVR 350 is kind of wasted in that pc then

You can do it all with two copies of Sage! You can run one copy on the netwroked machine to make that tuner available to the server, then run another instance with the -client on that same networked machine.

But does that require 3 licenses?
As I would need a Full copy on one machine (the main Server), A Full one on the remote PC, and a 2nd on the remote PC running with the -client switch?

Thanks for answering

With SageTV, you can run the service + UI, or you can run one server UI + client UI from the same exe.

It should be fine like you describe... With only two full version licenses.
