Renderer vs Decoder
See the attached graphic for what I am asking about.
I was wondering if someone can explain the differences between the Video Redender setting and the MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter. And the same thing for the Audio settings: Audio Renderer vs Audio MPEG2 Deocder filter? I dont understand what their main purpose is, and what they are used for in the product. Do they serve similar purposes or different purposes??? Thanks! |

Decoder unpacks the (usually compressed) data, and renderer puts that data on the screen (or speakers)

Yeah, basically:
File -> Splitter/Demux -> Audio/Video Decoder -> Renderer |
