Good/Bad Versions of Sun JAVA Related to SageTV

It's sort of known but not really published that Sage tends to work the best with the version of JAVA that it comes packaged with. However, there are a lot of "newer" versions of JAVA out there - some working better than others.

If you are running a version of JAVA that works great or that causes crashes with your SageTV software jot it down and let us know:

1.) Works well with ( ) or causes crashes/bugs ( )
2.) SageTV version
3.) JAVA version
4.) Other things to know about

Thumbs up

I've always been running the latest Java versions and SageTV versions and never had any problems. Right now I'm running Java 1.5.0_05 with SageTV v4 on 3 computers and I don't have any problems whatsoever. I only do SDTV capturing/playback though.

I've kept @ Java v1.4.2_06 since I first installed SageTV & Client(s) 4/04. Currently still running Sage v2.8. (Also only SDTV recording.) Sage rock solid. When I get around to upgrading to Sage v4 I'll still keep Java at v1.4.2_06 unless Sage requires otherwise, if it works to fix it!

I used v1.4.2_06 with sageTV v2.0 and upgraded to 1.5.02 since SageTV 2.2.

I still run 1.5.02 with V4.

No problems(functionally speaking) although I suspect that a handfull of crashes since January may have been Java related.

I had minor issues going with the 1.5s although it seemed to load faster. Now I just use the one that comes with the program and turn off the update notification. I dont see a need in updateing it again unless Sage needs it.
