Large wiz.bin + 100% CPU

Hi there!

Maybe you could help me..
Ive got little problem with sage tv :
i got it running now for some days and suddenly my wiz.bin file seems to explode
It's about 75MB at the moment...
Also my CPU utilization is about 100%
When i delete the wiz.bin + .bak everything is fine for a day or so - then the same thing happens.
Any Hints ?

Regards.

Has the the look ahead for the recording schedule been changed at all. I know if you extend the look ahead period and sage can have difficulty creating a schedule.

Other wise I would save the properties and wiz.bin files and submit an bug report. Sage may request the wiz.bin files etc. I'd also save the log files. just in case

If you are running v4, you should mention this to tech support. While wiz.bin can get quite large, that sounds excessive.

Has anything been customized for this SageTV installation? You may want to start with a fresh install, or at least delete your properties files & their autobackups so you can do a complete reconfiguration.

I Thinkg i solved my problem...

Hey,

first of all - thanks for the quick responses!
I think i solved my Problem.
So if anyone else got the same problem this is wat i did :

I had set up some folders for the media library to search for movies in.
One of these "Folders" was a DVD-Rom Drive.
Now when i put an DVD with some thousand files (not even movies) into this Drive sage seems to scan that drive and the wiz.bin gets VERY large.
As soon as is removed this particular DVD, deleted this current wiz.bin und restarted sage the problem seems to be solved.

Anyway there is one question left:
Is there any chance to delete all these crap entrys caused by this DVD from my old wiz.bin so i won't lose all my favorites, recordings etc ?

regards.

Sure, just restore from your daily backup. You do make daily backups of all your data and keep them safe for all eternity don't you?

Seriously though, I don't know of any way to do what you are after. The database used in the wiz.bin is all secret magic sage stuff. Nobody knows what goes on in there. At least nobody who will talk.

When ever I upgrade to a new beta or generally when ever I start messing with stuff, I make a copy of the sagetv folder and date it. I usually just keep 2-3 back copies at various dates back in time. That way I have a copy of those critical mysterious files in case I break something real good. That way if you have to restore, you only loose those items added since your last backup.

If you have no clean backup file, you are sort of out of luck. But it can sometimes feel good to start over. I have about 150 favorites stored, but I'd say a good number of them are for shows that arn't on the air any more. So now their watched status, recording history, is just useless data in my wiz.bin

Just remove that path from your media center import paths list and then on the next DB maintenance cycle (happens daily) it should clean up the entries.

For obvious reasons, I think Jeff's solution would be better than mine , but I was also going to suggest that you try putting a different disk that doesn't have lots of files into the drive & see what happens after refreshing the media center imported files. I think it will get rid of the files when it sees they are no longer there.
