Finally Got FSE Working
I could never get FSE to work on my box, which is a very clean install, HTPC only. Last night I did a few things unrelated to Sage, but on a whim tried FSE and it worked...sort of
The "sort of" is that switching to and from "Windowed" mode at any time, will crash Sage, and double clicking a sleeping Sage will do the same, but as long as Sage is set to Full Screen and slept/awakened with the remote, it works fine. The first thing I did was install NVIDIA's 81.95 drivers. Then I set the AGP aperture size to 256 and upped the voltage from 1.50 to 1.55. AGP slot is locked at 67. I don't know if any of the above did the trick, or I just never tried FSE by enabling it in Setup, sleeping Sage, exiting from the tray, and then re-starting. FSE did work with TheaterTek without any input from me...but I finally got it working with Sage and am happy HD playback seems smoother. P |

Ok...I fixed going from full to windowed mode. I found this in the properties file, even though I had FSE selected through Sage:
ui/disable_dx9_full_screen_ex=true I set it to false and I can now go from full to window, and back. Strange. P |

Are you sure you have FSE on? Do other windows show up over your sagetv window?
I ask because Sagetv for me and others will not allow FSE and other programs at all, i.e. I can't use TT or even WMP to render video if sage is using FSE and sage support admits to the problem and is working on a fix so we can use FSE and programs like TT. Try dragging another window over it, or bring up your start menu. If you can do those things it's not FSE, but if you can't I want to know your secret such as what OS and revision etc. I'm using MCE with SP2, no rollup and the latest drivers for MCE from nvidia for my 6600GT, which is not the same version as you're running. |

Cummings:
I used TheaterTek a few weeks ago to verify that FSE would work on this install...it did (no context menu when right clicking). Then I removed TT (it expired and I had no color...'bout flipped out until I figured it was TT's .188 nvidia decoders expiring too). Then I Did the above with Sage. Yes I am in FSE, but TT is not installed. P |

Just to clarify it for myself. You have had both sage and TT installed and you could play back a movie from TT with sage sleeping?
For me, I can use either in FSE, but if Sage is running then I can not play a DVD using TT, nor can I use any other program that uses FSE if Sage is merely sleeping. I have to exit sage before I use those programs which is a major problem because sometimes sage needs to record while I'm watching a DVD. |

No, never had both installed while attempting FSE with both. When TT was installed, Sage was *not* using FSE. I uninstalled TT and *then* activated FSE in Sage. Sorry for the confusion.

OK, I understand now. You never did what several of us want to do and can't.
Well, now that you've shot down my hope you figured out something I guess I'll wait for a new release before installing TT again. I'll only buy it after Sage get's it's bug fixed, i.e. sagetv is more important to me right now. I just misunderstood your first post where you said you had it working and mentioned TT, blast it all. Well, back to waiting for some bug fixes... |
