Constant Playback Problem

I have a constant playback issue with SageTv 4. Back in SageTV 3 with my PVR-350 out when i hit the stop button all live TV playback and reocrding stopped and the background picture was displayed.

Now with SageTV 4 and my Geforce6600 out even if I press the stop buttong live playback will begin once i change to another menu. Also, I never see the background picture anymore at all.

How can I get this back? I dont want Sage to constantly playback life TV so I don't stress my harddrives uncessearily.

You should check your Video Options to see if it is set to Always. (Use the Options command from almost any menu to get to those options.)

If you still have no background image when no video is playing, do you have the 'hidden' features enabled? If so, go to Detailed Setup -> Customize, scroll all the way down, & make sure there is a background selected.

As usual you were RIGHT on track. Man, this was so eays now I feel really stupid lol.

Maybe you have another easy solution for this one: In my previous setup my menus were somewhat transparent so i could see a little video behind them. do you know how i can get that function back?

Thanks!!!

You can get alpha-blended semi-transparency by using VMR9. If you are using Overlay you can have pseudo-transparency, but you'll have to play with the Advanced tab settings (or do a forum search), since I don't remember the specifics and I'm not anywhere near my SageTV systems.

Hey Opus,

what's the difference between VMR9 and overlay? Is one better than the other? I'm currently using the overlay function and have no idea what VMR9 is.

I'm no good at explaining the difference other than that VMR9 uses DirectX & mixes the video + menus in video memory, while Overlay is not dependent on DirectX and displays the video from a special 'overlay' area with the menus displayed on top of it rather than as part of the same image area in video memory -- you can take a screen shot of VMR9 + menus, but not when using Overlay.

Some people like VMR9 better; some like Overlay better. I like my Xcard.

You can search the forum for VMR9 vs. Overlay... or maybe someone else can explain them in more detail.
