SageTV 4.0 and Import Library
OK, is it still an issue to use a mapped, or UNC path for SageTV if you're using the Sage Service?
For some reason, I can't hit my imported files, via network, via a mapped drive letter, manually entering the path, etc. I'm running the latest final Sage4.0 on a Windows 2000 PC, and hitting a shared folder on a Windows XP PC. From the Win2k desktop, I can see the mapped drive (E:\) and all the media files there. I can play them in Media Player, etc. I can also browse the Network Neighborhood to the PC and see the same files. Both machines are logged in as Administrator, with the same administrator password, so there's no prompting for ID/PW when hitting the share, or when mapping the drive letter. I've tried removing the Import Library config from Sage, rebooting, going back to setup, trying to add it (after the PC's mapped it as drive E) via the E:\ drive, and it adds, but reports no files. I've tried adding via the Up Directory, until Network is shown, then when I browse there and select my 2nd PC, it shows blank folders with no names / descriptions and I cannot select them. I've also tried to manually type in the UNC path to the share in the Media Import setup of Sage. All of these are a No-Go. I'm tired of having to drop to the desktop to play imported videos via Media Player. I am using the Sage Service. Any help? ----- DON3k

See the bottom of p. 15 in the v4 manual; you have to have the service log in as a user (w/a password) who has access to the network location. And, you have to use UNC paths, since services can't access mapped drives.

You may not be typing in your UNC path correctly. My server, Frontroom has the Sage directory on hte local D drive. The UNC payh looks like this: \\Frontroom\data (d)\SageTV.
If you're not sure browse in your Network Places to the server drive from your client machine. The UNC path should now be in the address bar. Gerry

Fixed
Well, that was simple. I adjusted the Log On tab found withing the SaveTV service to login as the Administrator, and when Sage reloaded, all is well.
It's actually using the mapped E Drive to my 2nd PC with no issues. I didn't have to do a UNC. I have the HTPC auto-mapping the 2nd PC's shared video folder each time it boots, so I already had the Sage pointed there for the Import folder. After the change to the service, suddently it saw all the files found on the E Drive.
