Exclamation No playback after 4.1 upgrade

I recently upgraded from SageTV v2.2.7 to v4.1. After the upgrade, I cannot get any video/audio playback at all. Recording works fine, and I can watch recorded shows when I connect to my server from a different client - it's only the client running on the server that has the problem.

Specs are: SageTV v4.1 running on WinXP Pro SP2, P4 2.8GHz, 512MB RAM, WinTV-PVR 350, nVidia GEForce 5700LE

Things I have tried to no avail:
- upgraded Hauppauge drivers to latest version (2.2)
- upgraded nVidia GEForce drivers to latest version (8.1.9.5)
- tested all of the four video playback settings in the config wizard (basic, medium, standard, advanced)
- tested every combination of video renderer, video decoder, audio renderer, and audio decoder (including Cyberlink, InterVideo, nVidia, and SageTV)

In a possibly related problem, I also cannot get playback of DVDs through SageTV. Playback through Windows Media Player, PowerDVD, and NVDVD all works fine. Tried all the different decoder options in setup.

Wife is clamoring for my head, so help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Matt

I feel your pain...

Can you see the recordings on the server, i.e., do they show up under Sage Recordings? When you try to play them, what happens? Can you watch "live" TV?

Just asking.
Did you reboot the server after the upgrade?

I do see recordings. When I play them back on the server I get a black screen with no audio. When I play them back on a different client they work fine.

Are you running anything strange like a multi-monitor setup? When you are watching, does the progress bar advance as if the recording was being played?

No dual monitor. Using S-video out from the GEForce 5700 to a TV.

The progress bar does not advance when playing back. I assume this is because it is unable to decode the MPEG stream.

Do you have FSE mode on, or anything like that? How about 3D accel? I guess if you tried the canned palyback settings, including #1, you would have tried a bare-bones setup with no fancy stuff turned on.

Are these recordings you've made since the update?

Was v4.1 installed to the same location as the previous version, and have you tried uninstalling & reinstalling? OH: before reinstalling, try removing the properties files & their autobackups, then restart to reconfigure. (Save copies of the properties files elsewhere first.)

Although I didn't intent to, I must have installed 4.1.3 in a new directory, since when it ran for the first time after installation, it auto-launched the configuration wizard and none of my previous settings were present. I will try completely blowing everything away and installing from scratch.

Similar issue, installed 4.1 over my 4.0, run fine for 2 hours, then had black screen on desktop. Clients work ok, shutdown sage tv, reloaded and working again... will see for how long.
BTW, I have 2 MVPs working off this new media extender solution.... In trial mode right now.

OK blowing everything away and reinstalling from scratch seemed to fix it. I guess there was something in the previous config that screwed me. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
