Cover Art for videos in the media center?

Is there a way to have art show in the video library similar to the way album can show in the music library?

There probably isn't any way to search for the art, but it say I found a jpg or gif that I wanted to display, is there a way to use it?

thanks...

if there is a way to do it then it would probably be a good addition to the FAQ.

thanks again...

Instead of the FAQ, I have an even better place for it....

Check the PDF manual that is in your SageTV directory, around p. 93 for v4.1, in the Video Library section of chapter 3.

You can also just search Amazon for the video. They normally include a shot of the cover art.

It would be nice to see SageTV handle this info similar to how MCE does. MCE reads the DVDID # and matches it up on the AMG website and auto downloades the info for the dvd - including cover art. AMG seems to have the most Cover art as I've found some there that I couldn't fine on dvd profiler or amazon.

Well My movies has a cool import tool - but that just grabs the data from amazon or others. With My DVDs for mce (official MCE plugin) it gets the data directly from AMG. There are also 3rd party tools to get make an XML file that auto gets this info for dvds that are stored on the HDD - It is really awesome. This 3rd party tool also only requires the DVDID # then it auto gets it.

an example xml file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Disc>
<Name>MR_MRS_SMITH_WS</Name>
<ID>d081fbd6|f7d9fc79</ID>
</Disc>

This xml file takes all of 5 seconds to generate with the tool and IMO is much easier / better then having to use dvd profiler to get the data.

I'll PM you with the link - Not sure how appropriate it would be to post a link to TGB here...

FYI - This also works with WMP. If you play one of the dvds from your HDD with that xml file in the directory, it will display the cover art on the side bar under all of the tracks...

Works very well, though it can only do one at a time. After it's generated you just have to move the xml file to the video_ts directory for that dvd. I found another one that I cannot fine the link to that will search your videos dir for dvds stored on the hdd and get them all at once. That one is called "MyDVDs - Extended metaservices"

Don't go switching to MCE on us!
No offense

But how are those better than DVD Profiler? The first one is one at a time, and DVD profiler can search by disk ID, or by UPC.

The second one doesn't appear to pick up even half the information DVD Profiler gets, looks like just title, actors, and chapters.

-edit

Unless all you care about is the coverart.

-edit 2

Extended Metaservices doesn't appear to work without MCE configured.

Perhaps I misworded my post. I guess that it's not that they work better, It's just much faster and easier to do. I also have a stack of about 30 dvds that dvd profiler didn't have the art for, so far AMG is 12/12.

Right now I'm using GermSage + dvd profiler. Having to maintain the collection.xml file isn't quite as fast and having that app create a simple xml file and copy it to the dvd dir.
