Clarification on 4.1

I currently use 4.0.0.56 on server and client.
Am I understanding correctly that if I wish to upgrade to 4.1, I can do so free on the server, but have to pay to upgrade the client?
Aside from the the media server, which I don't use, is there any reason to upgrade?

No, you don't have to pay to upgrade the client, just DL a copy and install/upgrade over the old one.

It does have MVP support built in, if that matters to you.

Your existing SageTV and SageTV Client licenses for v4.0 will still work for v4.1; there is no cost to install those upgrades.

The cost comes if you wish to buy a Hauppauge MediaMVP or a license for an existing MVP.

Other than the added MVP support, other reasons to upgrade would be any of the various fixes mentioned in the announcement, including HDTV improvements and better tvtv support (EPG data for people in Europe).

Opus4,

so if I already have a client license for 4.0 and upgrade, will it support the MVP?

Thanks!

The client will still operate w/that license, but a Media Extender (an MVP) requires a separate license.
