Sage 4.x Audio Intervideo Decoder and Low Volume Problems

Long title I know. Since 4.0, I had noticed and tried to troubleshoot an audio problem I was having. I have seen several threads that seem similar -- but wanted to point something out. I used WinDVD 6 on all my clients and server, and used to use those audio decoders for DVD playback (ripped and actual DVD) within Sage. After 4.0, those audio decoders either would not work (no sound), or would crash sage with an error. The AC3 audio decoder and the Sage MPEG audio decoder would work, but for my mpeg2 content (DVD and HD) -- it would provide a very low volume on that content -- forcing me to adjust the speaker levels continually. This was not the case before. After closing sage, and simply reinstalling WinDVD6 to 'refresh' the audio decoders, I can now select those decoders for mpeg2 playback and for DVD audio rendering, and now my volume is consistent accross all recorded media.

I dont know if this is an official bug or not, but installing 4.x does damage somehow the WinDVD6 audio filters. I have had to do this on all my clients and the server, and now my audio levels are consistent.

WinDVD6 is not available from the website anymore, so I had to hunt for a download on one of my clients to refresh the installs. WinDVD7 is available, and I am sure this would probably fix the problem as well.

Hope this helps...

I am having the same problems where DVD playback has very low volume. Anyone found a solution to this yet?
